Repligen Completes BioLife Solutions Acquisition

Repligen completed its acquisition of BioLife Solutions, previously announced in July 2026.

BioLife specializes in development and supply of cell processing tools and services for the cell and gene therapy (CGT) market. Repligen, meanwhile, focusing on bioprocessing technology leadership in its role as a life sciences company.

Acquisition Financials

The initial announcement of the intended acquisition placed its total enterprise value at approximately $1.5 billion. While Repligen will delve further in its third quarter earnings call, it expects $20 million of synergies in year one.

Repligen says BioLife products are “deeply embedded” in cell therapy workflows, complementing Repligen’s existing offerings. BioLife’s differentiated biopreservation media portfolio is led by CryoStor. This supports 18 commercially approved therapies, plus a majority of United States commercially sponsored cell therapy trials.

“We are excited to welcome BioLife team members to Repligen,” Repligen President and CEO Olivier Loeillot said. “BioLife’s highly differentiated portfolio of products expands our presence in the rapidly growing cell therapy market. [This adds] a deeply embedded, high-margin consumables business with attractive recurring revenue. Together, we are better positioned to support customers across critical stages of the cell therapy workflow. [We will] help advance the development and commercialization of next-generation therapies.”

BioLife and Repligen Integrating

Loeillot continued that the Repligen and BioLife teams spent several months developing a “thoughtful” integration plan.

Repligen has corporate headquarters in Waltham, Mass. The majority of the company’s manufacturing sites are within the U.S. Additional key sites are in Estonia, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

By combining, Repligen says BioLife will benefit from broader global reach. And vice versa: BioLife has trusted customer relationships in Asia Pacific, which Repligen now absorbs.
